Geometric Cotton Cushion

The front of this cushion is built from strips. Each strip is a band of beige woven fabric with thin black lines running across it, and the strips stand next to each other from one side to the other. They are raised from the cushion, so their edges lift up a little and are not perfectly straight. That is what gives it the basket look.

Short pieces of black twisted rope go across the strips. They do not run in one long line. A piece covers 2 strips and stops, then the next row starts from a different place, like bricks in a wall. This is the main detail of the design, and it is why the cushion does not look like a plain striped one.

There are 2 looks:

• Light style: there is a small gap between the strips, and in that gap you see cream white fabric. With the cream showing, this one looks lighter and softer.
• Dark style: some of the gaps are filled with wide black bands instead of cream. The pattern looks bolder, and the cushion looks darker from far away.

In the photos one cushion has a plain cream back and the other a dark grey back, and the zip sits along the bottom edge.

The fabric is a cotton and polyester mix. It is thick, and the strips feel a little rough to the hand, closer to jute than to a soft velvet cushion. If you want something very soft to sleep on, this is not that cushion. It is made more for the look and the texture.

The size is 45.7 x 45.7 cm, which is the normal 18 inch sofa size. On a beige, cream or light grey sofa, like in the first photo, the brown and black stand out without being loud. It also goes well with wooden tables and a jute rug, as you can see in the other photos. If you take one light and one dark, they look nice together as a pair.
