Wool crewel flowers and vines, made by hand on a light linen blend fabric, cover the front of these square cushions.

Blue, yellow, pink and green flowers grow along teal vines across the front.
Each cushion is made by hand in wool thread, so the embroidery feels raised when you touch it.
The back has been kept in a plain neutral color.
A thin piped cord finishes all 4 edges.

These cushions are a good choice for a sofa or a diwan in a room where the walls and furniture are plain, because the embroidery will bring in all the color on its own. The wool thread also makes the front feel thick and warm, which is nice in the winter months.

This is crewel work, the kind Kashmir is famous for. The karigar works it in chain stitch, pulling one loop of wool through the next until the whole vine is drawn.

The design is really beautiful, especially the main vine. It is a deep teal and climbs up from the bottom, curling over at the ends, with flowers coming off it on both sides. There are blue flowers with small pink centers and yellow ones with brown inside the petals, while pink buds and green leaves fill the space between them. Because the wool is thick, the embroidery stands out, dekhne mein bhi aur haath lagane mein bhi.

On the back, the fabric has been left in a plain neutral color without any embroidery.
