The Flower Head Is Made In Layers

The petals are set in 2 rows, one behind the other, so the flower looks full and thick from the front. Each petal is pointed at the tip and has a line pressed down its middle, the way a real petal has a vein. They are painted bright yellow at the tips, and near the center the color turns into a soft orange, as if the sun has warmed them.

In the middle there is a round raised center in dark brown and black. Its surface is covered with tiny pointed shapes in a spiral pattern, which look like the seeds packed inside a real sunflower. Around this center there is a ring of thin orange and gold metal strips curled over each other, and this ring is what makes the flower look so real when you see it up close.

A Spring Lets It Move

On the back of the flower, which is painted green, there is a coiled metal spring joining the flower head to the stem, as you can see in the second photo. Because of this spring, the sunflower bends and sways gently when the wind blows, and it does not stand stiff like a plastic flower.

The stem is a long thin green metal rod, and 2 green leaves branch out from it at different heights. Each leaf has its veins pressed into the metal as well. Near the bottom the stem has a pointed end, so you can push it straight into the ground.

Kept in a lawn, at the start of a garden path or in a big pot by the front door, this sunflower will catch the eye of everyone who walks in. It looks especially nice in a garden with a lot of green, where the yellow stands out the most.

Care: Being metal, it can stay outside, but wiping it dry after heavy rain and touching up any chipped paint will keep it bright for many seasons.
