This is a set of 2 round tables, one big and one small, and the small one goes under the big one. Most of the day you see only 1 table, and when people come over, you pull the second one out.

Big table: 80 to 100 cm across (31.5 to 39 in), 40 to 45 cm high (15.7 to 17.7 in)

The first thing about this set is the top of the big table. There are white lines going across the black glass, kind of like the spokes of a cycle wheel, and they do not meet in the centre, they meet a little to one side. Looking at the photo, some people think the glass was cut wrong. It was not, the table is made like that, and once it is in the room, the lines sitting off to one side is what makes this table look different from every other round table.

The small table has the same black glass and the same gold ring around it, but no lines. Which is fine, because if both tables had the lines it would be too much in one place.

Now, the thing about these 2 tables is how they sit together. The big table is 40 to 45 cm high and the small table is 35 to 38 cm, so the small table goes right under the gold ring of the big table and stays there. On normal days the small table is pushed in and you hardly see it. When guests come, or everyone is sitting for tea in the evening, you pull it out and now there are 2 tables in front of the sofa instead of 1. The big table is 80 to 100 cm across, that is a good big top, and the small table is 60 to 70 cm, so a tea tray on one and snacks on the other fits easily.

So the glass. Black glass with gold around it looks very rich, there is no doubt about that. But black glass shows everything, fingerprints, dust, the little water mark from the bottom of a glass. On a wooden table you would not even notice those, on this table you will. A soft cloth every day or two and it is clean again, it takes a minute. If there are small kids in the house who keep touching the table, that is something to think about.

The legs are thin gold pipes, which is why 2 tables still look light in the room and not heavy. Thin legs also mean this is not a table to sit on or drag around, just lift it when you move it.

One more thing to check before ordering. Measure the space between your sofa and the TV unit. The big table alone can need up to 1 metre, and when the small table comes out beside it you need some room on the side as well. If the space is tight, the set still works, the small table just stays inside most of the time.
