Mr Darcy Rabbit Lantern

Lord Krishna loved rabbits, similar to cows, and showed his great affection on them. This lovely piece stands about 34 cm tall on his back legs, nose up, holding a small metal lantern in both paws like he is waiting for someone to get home. The body is polyresin in a pale cream stone finish, with the fur carved in so the whole thing has texture, you can see it in the ears and down the back. The lantern is separate, dark bronze metal with four glass sides and it hooks onto his paws. It takes one tealight.

Tealight is not in the box, please buy your own, any standard one from the kirana will fit.

Cheaper resin rabbits are hollow and light, one gust of wind and they are face down in the flower bed. This one stays put. Ours has been sitting on a garden stool through two Bangalore monsoons and it hasn’t shifted, the finish has gone a shade more grey which honestly suits him.

Where people keep him:

Balcony corner next to the plants, the landing outside the front door, garden path if you have one. Indoors he works on a shoe rack or at the bottom of the stairs. Put a tealight in on Diwali night or Christmas or whenever there is a moment on the terrace and he does his job. Kids love him, my nephew calls him Kharghosh Uncle, so be warned he might get named.
