Rectangular Abstract Navy Cushions

The pillows have a decent and simple design, which is what makes them so attractive. Similar pillows are often handmade by older women in villages across India, and they are usually made with great care and high-quality fabric. Since these pillows are made from cloth, they are also easy to wash and maintain.

The design is embroidered, not printed. It is made with thick deep blue yarn stitched onto a cream cloth, so the blue lines stand up a little from the fabric and you can feel them with your hand. The cream cloth has a woven texture, a bit like linen, and the blue on cream looks like old blue and white floor tiles.

In the center of both pillows there is a big round flower medallion. In the very middle there is a small flower with round petals, and around it there is a ring of small circles. From this ring, curling scroll lines go out on all sides, and between them there are leaf shapes with 3 points, pointing outward in 4 directions. All of this sits inside a bigger frame of curved blue lines that makes a large flower shape.

In the corners there are quarter circle designs filled with more curling leaves and small flowers. All around the edge of the pillow there is a thin blue line, and outside it there is a blue braided cord that goes around the whole pillow and gives it a neat finish.

Rectangular Lumbar Pillow (40 x 60 cm)

This is the long pillow in the first photo. The center medallion is the same, but the design is stretched out to the sides, so the curling patterns on the left and right are wider. Because of its long shape, it is good for the lower back on a sofa, or in front of the bigger pillows on a bed.

Square Pillow (18 x 18 inches)

This is the square pillow in the second photo. Here the medallion sits in the middle with the same space on all 4 sides, so the design looks fully balanced, like a tile. On the sides of the square pillow there are also small square shapes with a dot in the middle, which you do not see on the lumbar one.

Both shapes look really nice on a white, cream or light grey sofa, like in the photos, where the blue stands out very clearly. You can use the square pillows at the back and the lumbar pillow in front, and since the design and colors are the same, they look like one matching set.
