Wooden Seabird Decor Design

The two birds in this set are made as a pair and they look best kept side by side. The awake one stands tall with it’s head up and a small black eye, it’s beak pointing ahead, as if it has heard something on the beach. The sleepy one sits lower with it’s neck pulled in, it’s eyes drawn as 2 thin closed lines and it’s black beak resting on top of it’s wing. Put together, one keeps watch while the other takes a nap and people always notice that little story.

The body of each seagull is white and the surface is not smooth. It is covered with small flat cuts all over, like the marks a chisel leaves on carved wood and when light falls from the side these cuts make soft shadows. The wings are raised from the body and painted in a mix of grey, sand and light yellow, with rows of feathers carved in a scale pattern and their edges picked out in white. At the end of each wing, the tips are painted black, the same as a real seagull.

The legs are thin black metal rods and each foot is bent into 3 toes in front and 1 behind, so the birds stand steady on a flat surface without any base. Because the legs are thin, the birds look light, as if they are standing on wet sand.

They suit a bookshelf, a console table in the hall, the bathroom counter or a window sill in a sea facing flat. With a few shells, a small plant or a piece of driftwood next to them, like the greenery in the photos, they make a simple coastal corner. They are also a nice small gift for someone who loves the sea.

Care: Dust them with a soft dry brush, and keep them indoors, as they are made for display and not for outdoor rain.
